Linda Flores was born in Maraita, Honduras. After moving to the capitol city of Tegucigalpa, she felt the calling of the Lord to go to the Bible Institute and study to be a pastor. She graduated in 1984, and then worked in many areas of Honduras as a young pastor. Afterwards, she worked with World Gospel Mission missionaries for 20 years including one year on Roaton, 17 years teaching in the high school and Bible Institute at Escuela El Sembrador and two years in Choluteca where she started an education program. Ed is from central North Carolina, where he had worked one year in bridge construction and 25 years in the architectural millwork industry. During his second 10-day mission trip to Choluteca, he felt the calling of the Lord to be more involved in mission work, but with a mortgage and full-time job, did not know how God would work it out. While on his sixth mission trip in April of 2005, missionary Larry Overholt asked him to date a Honduran, who was Linda Flores. To Ed and Linda both, it seemed as though God was at work and after much prayer, two visits and many emails, they were married on December 3, 2005 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. They made their home in North Carolina for the next four and half years, many times visiting active and retired missionaries, and also hosting active and retired missionaries in their home. Soon after marrying they joined and became active in Central Baptist Church. Many times, Pastor Curtis Parker asked the question during his sermon, "What are you going to do with the rest of your life?" Knowing in their hearts that God had blessed them with talents that were needed in Honduras, they felt God's calling, and applied to be Missionary Volunteer Partners for World Gospel Mission in Honduras. They arrived in Honduras on July 16, 2010. The first year and a half in Honduras, they served at Escuela El Sembrador; Linda teaching in the Bible Institute and high school, while Ed taught in the woodworking shop and worked in the garden area. They are currently working in La Esperanza. Linda is working in theological education, encouraging and starting Bible study groups, and also working in evangelism. She is also promoting theological education among those not currently studying. Ed is working at the Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center and at the church property. He is teaching alternative gardening techniques at both locations, and introducing high producing vegetable varieties new to the area. He is also working in construction and maintenance on the buildings. As time permits and when the roads to the south, west and north are passable, they are reaching out into some of the more remote areas in that region of Honduras with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
