TRANSCRISUR: Transformacion Cristiana Integral del Sur Christian Holistic Transformation of the South

The TRANSCRISUR ministry team in Choluteca was born out of the Hurricane Mitch disaster in October 1998. A pastoral family was assigned by the National Holiness Church to begin a new ministry. They immediately began holding services in their home and helped in distributing relief aid that was generously donated to the Mission. The ministry quickly grew to two churches. More ministry help was needed; a missionary couple was placed in Choluteca in 2000. Another missionary arrived in 2006 to help with the regional youth and recreation ministries.

TRANSCRISUR team members, made of pastors and missionaries, work together under a team model. The vision of this southern Honduras ministry is to be a vibrant church that will actively participate in the community, encouraging a complete transformation of all people in Choluteca.

TRANSCRISUR emphasizes five areas of ministry: church planting/evangelism, health care, economic development, recreation, and education. The church planting ministry has three established congregations and four additional groups which are in various stages of development. Our health care ministry has built and equipped a clinic as well as provides preventive health teaching through our Community Health Evangelists. The economic development ministry facilitates individuals in the community in starting small businesses by providing loans and guidance. The education ministry offers Junior High night classes for adults and operates a vocational school. With such a large number of youth in the church and community, we plan to build a recreation center.
