Ministries

The vision of the Mission in Honduras is to envision a transformed society through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to call people to salvation and scriptural holiness through an integrated ministry approach.

Ministries on the Honduras Field of World Gospel Mission

Our missionaries on the Honduras Field are involved in as varied a ministry as there are careers. Each station was established to meet specific needs in its area, but many stations have grown to meet many other needs as well.

Children’s Ministries

All of our work in Honduras is dedicated to children, youth, and adult ministries. TRANSCRISUR as well as El Sembrador and La Esperanza offer primary and junior high classes in association with the local church. Tegucigalpamissionaries partner with the National Church through joint committees, hosting youth and children’s activities, and leadership training. Roatán Island offers a unique ministry to children and youth through missionary involvement in the community and church.

Church Ministries

Again, each of our stations—TRANSCRISUR, El Sembrador, Roatan, Tegucigalpa, and La Esperanza—are involved directly with the National Church through joint committees, leadership training, discipling, and church planting. We partner with these ministries to create an atmosphere where evangelism can take place. Local churches are established and leaders are trained so that the Gospel can be taken to all of Honduras and to the ends of the earth. The Mission in Honduras also partners directly with the Manuelito Project and AFE.

Educational Ministries

Offering primary, secondary, post-secondary, and vocational education in a Christian atmosphere to individuals to ensure personal future success is the goal of our programs, such as,Tegucigalpa, La Esperanza, and TRANSCRISUR. El Sembrador and programs in Tegucigalpa also focus on educating and developing church leaders of tomorrow through Bible schools, seminaries, and theological education programs.

Humanitarian Ministries

Each Mission station in Honduras provides relief and responds to community develop issues as they present themselves. Roatán provided housing as a result of Hurricane Mitch as did El Sembrador and the Choluteca ministry. Tegucigalpa continues to work with community development issues through partnering with Project Manuelito and AFE. TRANSCRISUR is helping individuals become established through job training and small business loans. El Sembrador continues to meet community development issues through vocational training programs.

Medical Ministries

The Mission in Honduras strives to provide preventative community health programs and to encourage the communities to develop healthy lifestyles. The ministry in Roatán is heavily involved in HIV/AIDS prevention education. El Sembrador offers health care to students, hosts a medical brigade from GHO each year, and meets the needs of the local community by having an on-campus nurse and clinic. TRANSCRISUR is reaching out through preventive health care education and offers a low-cost health care clinic with a licensed doctor and nurse practitioner.
