Prayer Team

Category: General

So much has happened in the past few weeks that it's hard to know where to begin.  But the Prayer Team from our home church came first, so I'll start there.  This is the third prayer team we have hosted from Heritage Memorial church in Washington Court House, Ohio.  What a blessing and encouragement it was to our pastors, missionaries and to all the members of the team.  We were able to visit many areas of ministry and several church in between.  It's easier to look at pictures, so I'm going to post a bunch----that way you can travel with us on our trip.  First of all you have to meet our fearless driver Smile

After we visited Villa Gracia (pictures posted on an earlier blog) and prayed for all the employees we traveled to El Sembrador.

We prayed for the Bible Institute students and took a tour of El Sembrador.  We also prayed for all of the missionaries and the Honduran staff.

We went to pray for some of the Olancho pastors at a Pastor's seminar in Catacamas.   There were over 70 pastors present so we were able to pray for a large group.  Then later that day we went to the El Carbon church and prayer with the pastor and his family.  The next day we traveled back to  Tegucigalpa and then on to Marcala where we had prayer with Pastor Luis Lobo (a graduate of El Sembrador Bible Institute) and family.

This is getting really long and I've only just begun----I think you can tell that we had a really good time praying with our pastors and missionaries.  We also visited La Esperanza, Yamaranguila, Siguatepeque, Comayagua, Choluteca, AFE (dump ministry) and Manuelito.  It was a fun team and we laughed a lot, cried together and enjoyed good fellowship.  We know that these wonderful people are praying for us on a daily basis.  And now they are praying for so much more, because they have seen it with their own eyes.  I might have to post more pictures later.  I have tons more!

More Grandma Pictures

Category: General

It's hard being a long distance grandpa and grandma, but our daughter-in-law, Michelle, is very good about keeping us updated on Eily's growth.  Eily has her own blog site, and she posts all kinds of pictures and videos of what Eily is doing.    On October 4th, at 10 1/2 months old, she took her first steps all by herself.  Here she is walking with her Daddy, but we have videos of her taking her first steps.  She'll be one year old on Nov. 21.

It's so fun being grandparents!

Another Check up for Jeremias

Category: General

Jeremias and his Mom, Marla, traveled as far as Miami with us, so that he could have another eye check-up.  The doctor was very pleased with his progress and said that his corneas look a lot clearer.  He still has a problem with his eyes wandering, but you can tell by this picture that he can see the panda bear in the magazine.  He is very near sighted, and has glasses that he wears when he wants too.  As he get older he'll realize he can see better when he wears them.  Pray that God will continue to touch this little guys eyes, and that they will be able to find a doctor here in Honduras to follow up on his eye exams, so they won't have the expense of going to Miami.

AMSLA General Assembly, Avon Park, Florida

Category: General

We just returned from our recent trip to Florida for the AMSLA general assembly.  We arrived in Florida on Oct. 26, so we had a couple days to spend with Colleen's parents.  The meetings started on October 1 but Tim and Sharon arrived on Friday afternoon, Sept. 28 and Saturday we baked and got things ready in the kitchen.  Sharon was all organized, purchased the groceries and brought a lot of supplies down from Marion.

Sunday Terry and Tim spent most of the day in Miami picking up all the international delegates.  Rafael Flores from Paraguay, David Hawk from Salvador, Daniel Jimenez from Bolivia, and Oscar Estrada, Jorge and Martha Pinto, Jorge Pacheco and Osael San Martin from Honduras.  David Kerney represented Argentina, and Bill Allshouse and Martin Salazar came from Mexico.  We also had Hubert Harriman, Roy Lauder, Don and Glenda Moon, Dennis and Twana Johnson, David Castro,Sherman Stoess, DeeAnn and us. The Junta Directiva met first and then the conference began with supper on Monday night.  Sharon had invited all the retirees from the Village, so Marge Brown, the Bushongs, and my parents came.

Jorge Pacheco with Mom and Dad Lewton

It was a good evening with the national pastors giving their testimonies and telling us about progress in their national churches. I think that was one of the highlights of the whole time.   The business meeting went well.

Reports were given from the current Latin American missionaries, the financial report was given by DeeAnn, and some changes in policy, etc. were discussed.

New Junta Directiva: Jorge Pacheco, Martin Salazar, Osael San Martin, Jorge Pinto, Terry Hawk, Daniel Jimenez & DeeAnn Rich

Jorge Pacheco was nominated to become the executive director of AMSLA full time, and he accepted the position, so there will be some big changes coming in his life.

Eldred and Luanne Kelley, President of Avon Park Camp, invited us over to their home for lunch one day.  They made us all feel so welcome

We finished with the AMSLA meeting about noon on Thursday and in the afternoon Tim Hawk shared some of the progress and frustrations in the USA Hispanic Ministry.  We had special prayer for Tim and Sharon and David Castro.  Thursday evening we shared a Thanksgiving dinner with the retirees again.  Bob and Bonnie Hudson and Lois Henry joined us along with the Bushongs, Marge and Lewtons.
