For those of you who love the Manuelito Project here are some pictures of some of the new kids. This week we have a group working at the project. They will be starting on the new dorm. Thank God for this project that is taking kids off the streets of Tegucigalpa.

Home Church Dedication

Category: General

We have been a part of the Restauracion Iglesia de Santidad since we have lived in Tegucigalpa. With all of our travels, at times it's been hard to feel like we are part of a congregation, but our pastor Jorge Pacheco understands our schedule and has made us feel like we belong. Jorge was one of our students at El Sembrador. He came as a little boy and we have watched him grow up and become a leader in our national church. A couple weeks ago we dedicated our new building. The church has been working on their building for several years and has only worked when there were funds available. We have watched this church grow these past 4 years and it was exciting to be a part of the dedication.

The church board

This is the church that sent missionaries to work with David and Debbie Hawk in Jucuapa, El Salvador. They have a good discipleship program and have become very involved in evangelism. We love our church here in Honduras.

Jenny's Cross Cultural Nursing Class

Category: General

Jenny returned to Honduras with us on July 26. She came down to do her cross cultural nursing class with Angie Overholt in Choluteca. It was a great experience for her. Angie was able to take her to the government hospital where she took blood pressures, dressed wounds, helped in the high risk baby nursery and observed in labor and delivery.

She, along with Angie and some of the church members went to the city dump where they handed out sandwiches and cookies that she and Nicole, a short term volunteer to Choluteca had made. She was also able to dress wounds and take blood pressures there.

She also helped Angie clean and organize the clinic

Growing up in Honduras, she had never visited Choluteca because the ministry wasn't started there until after hurricane Mitch. It really was a cross cultural experience for her, and God was able to use her in many ways. THANKS ANGIE!

Can you imagine trying to pick a basket out with so many choices? She ended up with several because it was too hard to make a decision.

Summer Activities

Category: General

It's been a long time since I posted anything on this blog, so I hope you haven't given up on looking at it.

In July we were in Marion, Indiana, for Field Director's Retreat with World Gospel Mission. Every two years WGM invites all of the field director's from all of the fields. It's a time for us to get together and discuss mission business. It's also a good time for fellowship with director's from all over the world. We had 10 full days of activities. During those days we discussed Internationalization and what that means to the fields. We also discussed the Humanitarian arm of WGM and what that might look like on the fields. At times we felt like we were on information overload, but the WGM Field Ministries Department did an excellent job of organizing it.

Of course during those days we were able to spend a few evenings with our children and granddaughter. The kids helped Colleen celebrate her birthday. We all celebrated Jeremy and Michelle's 7th anniversary and Eily's 8th month birthday. We thank God for our children and for their desire to follow Christ and serve HIM.
