Stephanie, Felicia and Josh: Check them out!
Category: General
If you remember, Bob and Kathy have taught Bible class in a bilingual school since 2001. Today we want you to get to know three World Gospel Mission VIA (Volunteers In Action) who God has been using in La Esperanza's Southwest School.
Meet Stephanie: Salvation Army missionary kid, Asbury College grad and awesome teacher to Southwest School's third graders!
Stephanie's singing, humming, or whistling will bless your soul as much as her smile! God's musical gift to her is being used in our Sunday morning worship! Here Stephanie is posing in Copan Ruins' central park with friend and co-worker, Felicia.
Stephanie loves her students and their families. She prays for them, journaling with her 3rd graders about their spiritual and moral/value steps of faith. She has achieved awesome heights in her classroom of English use with her students.
Stephanie is returning for the 2009-2010 school year!
Felicia is a South Dakota gal whom God prepared for service at Vennard College - our alma mater. Felicia's elementary teacher's preparation gave her open doors into the lives of her 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

Felicia loves the youth of the More Than Conqueror's Church. She spends time getting to know the youth, encouraging them and challenging them in their faith.

Felicia's smile - radiating because of God's love in her - will melt any problems you might be having at any given point in your day!
Felicia is returning for the 2009-2010 school year!
Four years ago Josh Emberton, from our home church in St. Joseph, MO, decided to give a part of his life for service to God. He had no idea that his decision to give God full reign of his life would involve four awesome years.
Josh, on the right, is enjoying end-of-the-year teacher's banquet with fellow teacher Jeri.
Mr. Josh (the name his students use for him) taught in the elementary and secondary levels. Josh says he greatly enjoyed the team teaching with Ms. Elsa and Ms. Claudia.
We are proud of Josh. He left his known, normal, friendly world. He was willing to risk humiliation with the Spanish language, starting a new life with new friends, and making drastic life changes to live and survive in a foreign culture.
The English speaking staff of Southwest School had the privilege of being accredited in the TESOL program: Spanish learning and workshops for teachers teaching in English as a second language.
The Southwest School staff enjoys being together! Celebrating birthdays (above) honors each staff member showing God's love and bringing unity.
We praise God for the Christian witness these volunteers bring to our community. Please pray that God will continue to guide and call young people with such dedication and desire to serve Him.

A retreat as "QUEENS FOR THE WEEKEND!"
The pastor's wives of our region of Intibucá were treated to a time that allowed them to relax, rejuvenate, interact with the other wives of pastors and just enjoy being together!
The ladies of the "More Than Conquerors" Church pampered the ladies from the moment they entered the door!
Facials,...
massages...
haircuts,...
manicures,...
makeup tips...
and photo shoots allowed them to renew themselves in the Lord.
A small excursion to a mountain village made it possible to enjoy and purchase flowers grown by the area Lenca Indian women, a rowboat ride and hot coffee.
The trip was complete with La Esperanza's most typical drink......... atol.
We studied Queen Ether's life as a woman. The movie "One Night with The King" helped us look at who we are as women of God.
Our local pizza place "Nueva Jerusalen" was also enjoyed!
Dr. Carol, friend and pastor's wife from Colomoncagua, said it well, "This is the first retreat that I have enjoyed EVERYTHING - from beginning to end!"
Bob and I praise the Lord for these precious women of God!
Thank you for praying for them and their church families!
