Impacting a Community!
Category: General
Recently Pastor Raul made a comment to us that confirmed some deep beliefs of ours about Christian life and vision. Every part of our lives or the church's life needs to demonstrate love and compassion.
Pastor Raul said, "I now understand just how much our church can and is impacting our community". He and his family had stayed in our home during our absence in December. Those days living on the church property allowed him to experience the revolving door phenomena of our home.
People of all ages have a need to be loved/cared for as well as a sense of belonging.
Krystal, Evelin and Tonita
They need to be accepted and be shown concern.
Living closer to the church permitted Pastor Raul to see the huge need of a safe place to interact with others. Children, adolescents and youth need to have a safe place to talk, run, play and live out a life that honors God. Bob and I would estimate that more than 80% of our area kids have no idea what God's normal family should be like.

November and December are school graduation days. Our church is centrally located and therefore is used for special events like graduations reaching out to many who would otherwise never attend the church.
Santa Anita Elementary School graduation requested our church's participation.
Beto Monterroso was there to pray, share God's word and show love the families.
Fernanda, member of our church and 6th grade graduate, is pictured here with her mother Raquel as they enter for her graduation ceremony.
Bible classes have been taught for several years in the local elementary school. So Fernanda's classmates know what it means to pray.
Pastor Raul ministered at the head table of the graduations held in our church.
Pictured here is Joel Fortin, church member and area high school professor, two district educational leaders, Pastora Nolvia and Pastor Raul, as well as the 6th grade teacher.
The adult education graduation involves a patriotic oath around the Honduran national flag.
The impact that our presence has had in the adult education program at our church and the Bible classes in the local school will be far reaching.
Each time an event like these is celebrated, neighbors come to understand that:
- Our church cares about the community.
- Our church family has a real love for them as individuals.
- We have a message that can transform their lives.
- Our desire is to see them grow in all aspects of life.
New families like the two pictured below are having their eyes and minds opened a little more to what the "More Than Conquerors Church" is all about.
Pray with us what Paul wrote to the Ephesians 1:18, "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which [God] has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance."
Pray please that our neighbors would understand the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ. Ask Him to give grace so that our neighbors might understand the great things God wants to do in their lives.

The Owen Family proudly presents
Jackson Joshua Owen, son of Joshua and Erin Owen!

Jackson Joshua was born November 25th, 2008 in Branson, Missouri. His due date was December 8th so Grandparents Owen had to work fast to get tickets back to see this precious bundle of blessings!

We (abuelos Bob and Kathy) praised the Lord for this awesome gift from God at Tuesday prayer meeting with the More Than Conquerors Church.
Wednesday the 26th we drove to Tegucigalpa, flew out on the noon flight, ran through the Houston airport to catch our connecting flight, and jetted to Kansas City International Airport. Pastor Darrel Jones was at curbside with our vehicle (thanks Mom Owen) so away we went to southwest Missouri. We arrived at the hospital a little after midnight. What an awesome joy it was to join Joshua and Erin with their precious son Jackson Joshua!

These days with Joshua, Erin and Jackson are like no others!
Thank you for loving us!
Thank you for praying for us!
Thank you for caring for our family!
Our love to yours in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
